LEADERS & ENTREPRENEURS FOR THE ADVANCEMENT & PROMOTION OF YOUTH
LEAP, Leaders & Entrepreneurs for the Advancement & Promotion of Youth is a nonprofit that operates 3 programs to develop youth into leaders, encourage them to expand their education and help them to obtain talents and opportunities to be entrepreneurs. The LEAP program will celebrate 5 years in February 2025 and we are excited to celebrate with our youth on this cruise. The cruise will celebrate one of our graduating seniors, acknowledge the completion of our first Debutant Cotillion Ball, recognize our first graduating class of LEAP students becoming seniors and the work that we have accomplished over the last 5 years and all that we have learned. LEAP will help coordinate the trip for the students but everyone will pay their way individually. The cost is $625 and it includes a 4 day cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau Bahamas, Princess Cay island and back to Orlando, along with transportation from Forest City, NC to Port Canaveral and back.
This trip is for High School students only with the exception of those middle school students currently enrolled in LEAP. This trip is open to parents that would like to attend with their students but cabins are filling up quick so deposits are due by 9/16/24 in the amount of $75. Please contact Kisha McDowell ASAP, if you would like to go at 828-375-9315.

We are hoping to make it possible for 44 kids plus chaperones to attend this trip. The cost of this trip is expected to be around $25,000. This includes charter bus, hotels, meals and 1 attraction. We need your help in sponsoring this trip. The per person cost is $300 and we are hoping that you will share this information with businesses, friends, and family to get students involved and to support those that are currently involved in LEAP. If you are unable to do the whole amount of $25,000, you are more than welcome to sponsor 1 or more youth. Some families have children in middle and high school and this amount may seem exorbitant. Check out our website and learn more about LEAP. Previously we served just girls, now we serve girls and boys, our website is www.leap4youth.org.
Leaders & Entrepreneurs for the advancement and Promotion of Youth (LEAP) is a non-profit leadership and development program for youth ages 9 - 17 or grades 4 - 12. We work with youth to provide access to leadership opportunities as entrepreneurs, in businesses, the arts and the community. We seek young minds that may not always fit the mode of athletes, but have skills they want to improve upon that will impact their life decisions. We seek to unlock the potential of youth all over Rutherford County and we hope that you be a part of these fantastic opportunities.

LEAP is open to girls ages 9-16. We come together to enhance the dreams, desires, hopes and hidden potential of girls as leaders, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
We work together to determine our business objectives, we learn business skills such as communication, speech, administration, management, finances and more.
It is our mission to encourage, inspire and motivate young girls to be influential leaders, entrepreneurs and powerful women in their schools, homes, jobs, and businesses.
LEAP began February 2020 and has continued to educate, mentor, instruct and lead these young ladies to amazing businesses where they have met great women entrepreneurs, who have taught them about their businesses, growth, losses, ups and downs in the real world.

Kisha McDowell wants to change the world, one girl at a time.
One of her projects is LEAP, Leaders & Entrepreneurs for the Aspirations and Promotion of Girls.
On a recent Saturday afternoon a small group of her aspiring leaders gathered at the POPS pavilion in Forest City to hand out bags of information about the program, meet new girls, and promote the work.
"We want girls to have the confidence to start their own businesses," McDowell said as her two daughters, Aniyah and Makalyla and Gracy Hodge milled nearby.
Hodge's mom, Dawnette, is a lead volunteer with the group and a budding business person herself. She cooks Caribbean food.
McDowell is cooking home-delivered meals for a small group of customers and can be found at 262-989-8982.
So that entrepreneurial spirit is not only being taught to the young women in the LEAP program, but it is being modeled by McDowell and Hodge, too.
Recent on-line programs have included exposing the LEAP girls to Mia Chapman and Bud Rosan who work with American Zink. The two industrial leaders taught the girls about their skills in working on the industrial scene.
McDowell also mentioned the example of Rosa Parks whose leadership was at the heart of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the igniting incident that fueled the modern civil rights movement. Parks, who was secretary of the local NAACP, had prepared through training and prayer, for the day she would defy the bus segregation in Montgomery.
She probably could not have imagined that her courageous refusal to give her seat to a white man would result in the Supreme Court striking down bus segregation in Montgomery and across the nation.
McDowell hopes to instill success thinking and believing in the girls through strategies that she describes as: don't leap to conclusions about anyone or anything, use sharing to open doors to communication, engage in learning, find effective strategies, plan the execution, and reach the goal.
